JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) plans to establish 60 cold storage facilities in eastern Nangarhar province this year.
Samullah Nasrat, provincial agriculture director, told Pajhwok Afghan News that MAIL had approved construction of 60 cold storage facilities in Nangarhar this year.
He said the facilities would be established in areas where more vegetables were grown.
He added growers mostly suffered losses because they could not preserve their crop yields until their prices surged.
Storage facilities would be provided to farmers to enable them to supply vegetables to market anytime, he informed.
According to Nasrat, the project would also benefit common people besides farmers because they would be able to find vegetables anytime.
Nasrat said training would be provided to farmers about the facilities before submission.
