KABUL (MoPH) has recorded 21 positive Congo fever cases in the past four days in Kabul and Herat provinces, an official said on Wednesday.
Shah WaliMaroofi, an official of the MoPH, told Pajhwok Afghan News about 21 Congo fever infected individuals, including three children, referred to hospitals from the Arafat day until the 3rd day of Eid.
He said 15 of the cases recorded in Kabul and six others in Herat province.
According to Maroofi, at least 299 Congo fever cases have been recorded across the country since the beginning of the ongoing year and 32 people lost their lives to the disease.
Of every 100 people, 25 of them had been infected with Congo fever in the past years but the number decreased to 12 currently, he said, adding the MoPH has created treatment centers for the disease in 34 provinces of the country.
Noorul HaqYousafzai, head of Indra Gandhi Hospital in Kabul, confirmed receiving three children infected with Congo fever and the patients shifted to Antani hospital after initial inspection.
