MAIMANA (Pajhwok): One child was killed and five others sustained wounds in a mortar strike which local residents blamed on security forces in Pashtunkot district of northern Faryab province on Friday morning, police said.
Faryab police spokesman Abdul Karim Yurash said Taliban militants fired mortars at civilians’ homes in order to defame security forces. As a result of the strike, he said, one child was killed and five children were wounded when the mortars hit their homes.
