KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Intelligence operatives have detained five militant groups comprising 25 members in southern Kandahar province before they could disrupt the 100th Independence Day celebrations.
Addressing a press conference here, Governor Hayatullah Hayat said that National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel detained 25 militants relating to five militant networks.
A number of weapons and vehicles were also seized from the rebels, he said, adding that among the militants a seven-member group wanted to disrupt the Independence Day but it was busted.
