PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Local officials on Sunday claimedd the Taliban’s shadow governor for central Logar province was among 22 rebels killed in foreign forces airstrikes and fight.
Ahmad Shkil Tasal, spokesman of 4th ground brigade in Logar told Pajhwok Afghan News that foreign forces targeted the vehicle of the Taliban’s governor for Logar in Choni area of Pul-i-Alam city, the provincial capital on Friday night.
He said five people including Haji Lala, the Taliban’s governor for Logar were killed in the incident.
Meanwhile, 11 Taliban fighters including the group’s commander, Qari Munir were killed in another airstrike in Baraki Barak district of the province, he said.
On the other hand, Tasal said that Afghan forces and the Taliban clashed in Padkhab Shana area of Pul-i-Alam city and Mohammad Agha district last night.
He said seven Taliban militants were killed and two others were captured during the fight.
Jamil, a resident of Padkhab Shana area said that four Taliban fighters were killed during a battle with Afghan forces in their area last night.
Taliban did not comment yet on the incidents.
Two months back, the Ministry of Defense had told media that the Taliban’s governor for Logar, Haji Lala was killed in Charkh district of the province.
