ADB reaffirms commitment to Afghanistan development

KABUL (Pajhwok): Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Director General for Central and West Asia Werner Liepach on Thursday concluded a two-day visit to Kabul after meeting President Ashraf Ghani and CEO Abdullah Abdullah.

During his visit, Liepach also met with Acting Minister of Finance and Chief Adviser on Infrastructure and Technology to the President Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi; Minister of Agriculture Breshna Sherkat Amanullah Ghalib and other senior government officials.

He also met with key development partners. During his meetings with Ghani and Abdullah, the bank official discussed ADB’s partnership with Afghanistan, overall country operations, and current development priorities. He reaffirmed ADB’s continued support to the people of Afghanistan

“I am honored to visit Afghanistan and discuss with the government how ADB can be more effective and efficient in helping to improve the lives of the people of Afghanistan,” Liepach said. “I commend the government for implementing key reforms in the current difficult situation. We are committed to strengthening our partnership with the government to bring prosperity to all Afghans.”
