KABUL) head after four brothers were killed in a night raid in eastern Nangarhar province.

The president issued order of Masoum Stanikzai’s removal in a security meeting today at Presidential Palace.

The president said: “Unfortunately officials failed to prevent such incident and I just approved the resignation of NDS Chief Masoum Stanikzai.”

The president acknowledged positive work of Stanikzai as spymaster

Afghan Special Forces killed four brothers in a night raid in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Thursday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Special Forces conducted the raid in the 4th police district of Jalalabad, the province capital, on Wednesday night.

He acknowledged the slain four civilians were all brothers. Governor Shah Mahmood Miakhel, meanwhile, expressed deep concern over the incident.

He urged President Ashraf Ghani to send a senior official to the province for investigating the incident. Miakhel sought immediate explanation from the intelligence director.

The overnight operation was carried out in Majboorabad area. Samiullah, a resident, said the dead included an employee of the Meshrano Jirga Secretariat, Qazi Qader, Jahanzeb Zakhilwal, Sabor Zakhilwal and Bahader Zakhilwal.

He said the victims’ elder brother Bahader returned from Saudi Arabia on Wednesday after performing Hajj.

On the other hand, the 02 Unit of the Special Forces said four Daesh members, including their financer Qari Jahanzeb, had been killed during the operation in Jalalabad.
