KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani directed security forces on Saturday to beat militants and ensure security of civilians in western Farah province.
Fifty-five Taliban were killed and 30 others injured after the rebels attacked on Farah City, on Friday and security forces pushed them back.
A statement from the Presidential Palace media’s office received by Pajhwok Afghan News said President Ghani chaired a meeting that assessed Farah City’s security situation on Saturday afternoon.
Initially security sector officials represented their reports and future plans about Farah to the meeting in presence of Wolesi Jirga members from Farah people, the statement added.
President Ghani commended security forces for repulsing Taliban attacks in the province.
He directed security and defense officials to step up their efforts to suppress the enemy, thwart threats and protect civilians, it added.
