KABUL Premier League (APL) has been delayed to 2020, the board announced on Thursday.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said the decision on postponing the T20 event was driven by the failure of Snixer Sports to pay the complete rights fees.
A statement from ACB said the agreement on fee and payment schedule had not been honoured by the New Delhi-based company.
Concerns about risks for APL integrity, posed by individuals linked to the private company, were also cited as a reason for the delay.
The Attorney General’s Office had been requested to thoroughly probe the allegations of administrative corruption in the league, the ACB statement added.
The contest was slated for next month in the United Arab Emirates. The first edition of the APL was played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The tournament featured five teams.
