UNAMA security official killed in Paktia clash

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): A policeman and security guard of UNAMA have been killed as a result of a clash in southeastern Paktia province, an official said on Wednesday.

Police chief Mohammad Usman Janbaz told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place on Tuesday evening.

He said the clash erupted when a verbal dispute between police and the UNAMA security commander turned violent. Both policeman and the commander were killed in the firefight.

He said the motive behind the incident was yet to be ascertained but an investigation was underway. UMAMA has not yet commented about the clash.
