KABUL’s presidential elections will be held tomorrow (Saturday) in which 14 candidates contesting to become the next president.

Earlier, 18 individuals had registered as presidential candidates but three candidates joined others by retreating from contest while Mohammand Hanif Atmar halts his campaign.

Election bodies’ officials and security bosses have assured the nation that Saturday polls will be held in a peaceful environment and transparent manner.

Army Chief Lt. Gen. Bismillah Waziri assured the people on Election Day to go cast their vote without any fear and decide their political future.

Khoshal Sadaat, Interior ministry’s security secretary, also assured the people to participate in presidential polls, adding that security forces will remain neutral in the democratic process.

Abdul Rahman Nang, secretary of the Independent Election Commission, told reporters in Kabul that full preparations had been made for presidential elections and everything conducted through election schedule.
