KABUL) on Sunday said more than two million people cast their votes at 3,736 polling stations in different provinces during the presidential election.
Ismatullah Mal, IEC deputy director, told a press conference in Kabul that in total two million and 196,436 votes were counted at these polling stations so far.
He said 458,549 people cast their votes in Kabul, 84,124 in Bamyan, 74, in Balkh, 93,205 voted in Khost, 114,310 voted in Daidkundi, 182,540 voted in Kandahar, 254,871 voted in Nangarhar and 104,459 individuals exercised their right to vote in Herat province.
He also provided information regarding votes cast in some others provinces, adding they had not been able to make contact with Faryab, Kunduz and Farah provinces due to telecommunication issues.
On Saturday, voting started at 7am and ended at 5pm under strong security. At least 13 candidates contested the presidential election.
