KABUL) personnel have cleared the Dasht-i-Archi district of northern Kunduz province of insurgents, the Ministry of Defense said on Saturday.
In a statement, MoD said: “ANDSF cleared and took control of the district center and surrounding areas of Dasht-i-Archi in a predawn operation in the province.”
The ministry said the security forces had inflicted heavy casualties and damage on the Taliban during the operation. Rebel bases were destroyed in the district.
The security forces continue operations against the Taliban in areas under their control and have retaken control of 12 districts of Ghazni, Badakhshan, Kunduz, Takhar and Faryab provinces in the past six months.
Separately, the Afghan National Army (ANA) said the security personnel regained control of Dasht-i-Archi district centre this morning.
