PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): At least three members of a family, including a woman, have been killed in northern Baghlan province.
The incident took place in Khalazai village of Baghlan-i-Markazi district late on Monday night.
A resident of the area, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News that gunmen stormed the residence of Uzbek Bai.
He said three individuals, including a woman, were killed and two others seriously wounded.
“According to relatives, the clash took place between two cousins over a loan of 18,000 afghanis,” the resident said.
The cousins worked together on Iran, he said, adding it was not clear whether the cousin himself opened fire at his relatives or hired someone else to attack Bai’s home.
Khalil Narmgo, a doctor at the district hospital, confirmed receiving three dead bodies, and two injured people from the site. The dead included a woman.
He said the victims belonging to the same family were aged between 45 and 60 years.
The doctor added the injured were in critical condition and were, therefore, shifted to Kunduz Civil Hospital.
Meanwhile, police spokesman Ahmad Javed Basharat said the incident was triggered by a loan of a few thousands afghanis. He also confirmed the casualties.
Basharat added police had launched a manhunt for the killers.
