2 killed, 26 injured in Laghman car bombing

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two people were killed and 26 others wounded as a car bomb exploded in front of the Alishang district office complex in eastern Laghman province on Wednesday morning, an official said.

Asadullah Dawlatzai, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the bombing took place at around 6:00am.

He said the suicide bomber detonated his explosives-packed vehicle in front of the district centre. Two security personnel were killed and six others wounded, he added.

Dawlatzai informed at least 20 students of a seminary close to the district centre were also injured. The injured were evacuated to the Mehtarlam Civil Hospital.

A resident of the area said a police check-post, a seminary and nearby homes were damaged. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing.
