KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Idrees Zaman has held a meeting with Iranian Assistant Minister for West Asia Seyed Rasoul Mousavi, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday.
Accompanied by the country’s outgoing Ambassador Mohammad Reza Bahrami, visiting Assistant Minister Mousavi called on the Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister to discuss issues of mutual interest.
The two countries’ authorities discussed the recent developments; relevant to both sides, and exchanged views on areas of bilateral cooperation.
The two sides talked about the ongoing peace efforts, the roles of the parties to the process; as well as the regional dynamics.
Assistant Minister Mousavi briefed the Deputy Foreign Minister on Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s visit to Tehran.
Deputy Minister Zaman, briefing the visiting Iranian delegate on the peace developments, noted that the Afghan government has its own unanimous stance in relation to peace.
Mousavi emphasized the need for regular political consultations between the two countries.
