JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Seven military bases and 18 new check-posts have been created in the Sherzad district of eastern Nangarhar province to protect newly captured areas, an official said on Saturday.
Joint Afghan security forces have launched a military offensive in the district six days earlier to drive away insurgents. As a aresult, security forces captured several areas, killed and wounded at least 34 militatnts.
