KABUL member on Wednesday accused Nizamuddin Qaisari, a pro-government militia leader, of distributing weapons to people, using illegal armed men and grabbing properties in northern Balkh province.
Security forces arrested Qaisari in Maimana, the capital of northern Faryab province, on July 2 and shifted him to Kabul and he has since been in custody of the intelligence service.
The militia commander had declared his support for presidential candidate Rahmatullah Nabil during the presidential election.
According to a report, the illegal armed group commander is faceing 20 criminal charges including murder, extortion, armed attacks against security forces, use of force, intimidation and armed clashes with political rivals, hatching conspiracies, committing illegal economic activities, issuing false statements and committing financial crimes in certain cases.
Abdul Khaliq, a lawmaker from Balkh province, told today’s session of the lower house that the fate of Qaisari remained unknown.
He said Qaisari freely walked in company of 15 vehicles and armed men in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh, and local officials were silent.
He claimed Qaisari has around 200 armed men and he was distributing weapons to people in Balkh.
Abdul Khaliq said he had evidence and documents that Qaisari distributed 250 weapons to people and grabbed dozens of acres of lands of Oryakheld tribe and a personal property of Farhad Azimi, a former lawmaker of Balkh province through his militias in Mazar-i-Sharif.
He said Qaisari had installed his photos on grabbed lands and had settled dozens of gunmen there.
Wolesi Jirga speaker Mir RahmanRahmani said those providing weapons to Qaisari should be recognized.
He tasked the house security affairs commission with investigating the issue of Qaisari.
Balkh deputy police Chief Abdul Razeq Qadari told Pajhwok in a telephonic conversation that a delegation had been tasked with dealing with Qaisari.
He said no complaints against Qaisari for distributing weapons and grabbing lands had been registered with them.
Pajhwok tried to contact Nizamuddin Qaisari in this regard but failed.
