Woman held with 730kg of opium in Takhar capital

<p><a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">KABUL</a> (Pajhwok): A woman has been detained on drug smuggling charges in Taloqan, the capital of northern Takhar province, an official said on Friday.</p>

<p>Police spokesman Aseer Khalil told Pajhwok Afghan News counter-narcotics police arrested the woman with 730 kilograms of opium Thursday evening.</p>

<p>The woman, trying to smuggle the drugs from Kalfagan district to the provincial capital, was arrested at a checkpoint, the official said.</p>

<p>Khalil identified the detainee as Khal Nisa, daughter of Yar Mohammad and a resident of Kalfagan. The woman is currently under investigation.</p>
