KABUL take on West Indies in the in the first T20 match in India’s northern city of Lucknow today (Thursday).

Drubbed in the last 12 ODIs on the trot, Afghanistan are expected to go flat out to prove their mettle in the shortest format of the game.

Although the Afghans have been a good T20 record, they have been unable to outplay West Indies in T20s since 2016 and lost three matches in a row in 2017.

To regain their winning ways, Afghanistan’s batsmen will have to get their act together and focus on playing smart and intelligent cricket –something their skipper expects.

In their own right, the West Indians also have the capacity outperform any side. But they need to fix the team balance and achieve the required consistency level.

The first of the three match T20 series will begin at the Ekana Cricket Stadium at 7pm (India time). Given the evening dew, toss will play a key role.
