PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The governor of central Logar province on Monday denied schools’ boys faced sexual harassment in the province.
A week back Guardian newspaper published an investigative report about sexual misuse of male school students in Logar.
The Guardian report says 546 boy students of six schools in Logar were sexually misused by a circle of teachers, senior students and powerful figures.
A number of the victims whose videos were leaked on Facebook are killed, the report said
But Governor Mohammad Anwar Ishaqzai, flanked by a number of government officials, told in a press conference here that delegations had been appointed for investigation of the issue.
He said their delegation’s finding showed there had been no such issue in the province and termed the Guardian newspaper as baseless and untrue in this regard.
He said, “We also asked a delegation from Kabul to investigate the issue seriously.”
Ishaqzai added it was as a conspiracy against Logar province and vowed to arrest of those involved in spreading the baseless allegations in social media.
Sayed Qaribullah Sadat, a member of the provincial council, said school boys did not face sexual harassment in Logar. He demanded a serious investigation into the incident.
Education Director Abdul WaliKaliwal no boy sexual harassment case had been registered with them so far.
He termed the issue “as baseless” and said publishing such reports were violation of student rights.
Meanwhile, Musa Mahmoodi, Logar civil society’s association head, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Guardian newspaper and TOLO News misconstrued his speeches in this regard.
