Candidates’ Council vow to disqualify commissioners involved in fraud

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Council of Presidential Candidates (CPC) on Thursday said they would soon announce an alternative strategy in the wake of election crisis and warned to disqualify election commissioners involved in electoral fraud.

In a statement issued during a press conference here, condemned the recount and change to the figures of votes as a clear violation of all Independent Election Commission (IEC)’s procedures and rules.

“The results of a systematic fraud will cause crisis and we analyze it as injustice and we do not accept it,” the source said.

The statement said that the IEC commissioners chose by a number of presidential candidates mismanaged election and doctored votes and the council would not trust them and has the right to disqualify them.

Ahmad Wali Massoud, a presidential candidate, said that it was a serious warning of the council to members of the election bodies to stay neutral in their activities.

He said the election was rigged under a program ‘preparation’ in the IEC and the council and the Afghan people would not accept its outcome.

The election has diverted from its main route, the process has deeply interfered and even the ruling team has appointed its figures in the commission to manipulate the election on its favor, he said.

“We are in electoral crisis, we worry it would turn to a national crisis because domestic and foreign hands’ interference in the election has increased,” Massoud added.

He said that CPC would not allow someone become govern the Afghan people with fraudulent votes.

The council asked the UN mission in Afghanistan, particularly UN secretary general’s special representative for Afghanistan, Tadamichi Yamamoto to play its role neutrally and based on international norms, and remove skepticisms about Afghanistan election.

If the UN did not do so then the council would be obliged to complain to other relevant sources, the source said.

The statement in a part says that the council has prepared a plan for alternative to election crisis and it would soon share with the Afghan people.

Shahab Hakimi, another presidential candidate, said that the plan was prepared for prevention of crisis in the election and it was shared with international partners and diplomats.

He did not provide further details about the plan but said that based on the plan, a government should be formed to manage the election and peace process.

CPC stressed on the trial of defrauders and commissioners involved in corruption, saying the council will give all its efforts to take those involved in corruption to justice.

Presidential election held on September 28. Earlier the IEC had given October 19 the date for announcement of preliminary result while November 7 for announcement of final result of the presidential election.

But due to some technical issues and problems during separation of clean and fraudulent votes, the IEC could not announce the result on its due date.

On October 27, the IEC said that primary result of the presidential election would be announced on November 14, but the commission again delayed the date for an indefinite of time.
