PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The incumbent Pakistani government has affirmed its commitment to a trust-based friendly relationship with Afghanistan.
Usman Dar, adviser to the prime minister on youth affairs, suggested both Afghanistan and Pakistan needed to invest more in their youth.
He told participants of the Pak-Afghan Youth Leaders’ Summit in Islamabad on Saturday it was heartening to see young leaders from the two countries sitting together.
The gathering was organised by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) and the Afghan Studies Centre as part of its cross-border Track 1.5/II initiative.
Dar asked the youth of Pakistan and Afghanistan to work together to carve out a bright future for the next generations.
The advisor promised he would personally request the chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to increase the number of scholarships for Afghans.
Lawmaker Mehnaz Akber Aziz said if the neighbours had to grow in an inclusive manner, they would have to invest in young people.
The National Assembly member suggested education diplomacy — a contemporary approach that could help bring nations closer — between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
