Czech mission in Bagram set to change after March

<p><a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">KABUL</a> (Pajhwok): The Czech security mission around Bagram Air Base in central Parwan province will end in March, a TV channel reported.</p>

<p>Czech Defence Minister Lubomír Metnar passed on this information to the soldiers during a recent visit to the airbase, according to Prague TV.</p>

<p>The role of the mission will shift from providing security for the sprawling airbase to training Afghan Special Forces and sending more doctors to the war-hit country.</p>

<p>For more than six years, the Czechs have been responsible for security at the main American military airbase in <a href="/en/afghanistan" class="glossify-link">Afghanistan</a>.</p>

<p>Of the 170 Czech soldiers on the mission, nine have lost their lives. Czech troops are also part of missions in Kabul and provincial towns. In all, about 250 Czech soldiers are stationed in Afghanistan.</p>
