KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) is working on a reform package to be implemented after being completed, an official said on Tuesday.
Garan Hewad, MoFA spokesperson, told reporters here that a multi-dimensional evaluation of the reform package was underway and the packaged had been shared with all foreign missions of Afghanistan and would be announced after it was completed.
“The reform package will analyze, correct and update foreign policy doctrines, laws, bills, structure of foreign ministry, and bring about high quality reforms to the ministry,” he said.
He emphasized that the purpose of the program was to focus on Afghanistan's economic relations in light of other countries’ economic laws and the framework of their support for Afghanistan. Relationship with other countries should be economically driven.
He said the government planned to convert Afghanistan into a centre of connectivity between Central and South Asia.
For this purpose, Hewad added, Afghanistan would introduce reforms so individuals representing the country could forge marketing for Afghanistan in foreign countries.
He said the Istanbul Process Conference will be held on December 9 in Istanbul, and President Ashraf Ghani would represent the country in the conference.
The spokesperson said five ambassadors and their deputies who had completed their term of services had been told to return to the country.
