KABUL (Pajhwok): The US-based MD Helicopters has won a follow-on contract for 12 more light-attack helicopters for the Afghan Air Force, an aviation website reported on Thursday.
Awarded through the US army, the order was placed days after MD Helicopters announced the delivery of the last batch of choppers from a previous contract.
According to Flight Global, the new 12-example sale falls under the five-year, $1.4 billion IDIQ (indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity) package the company signed with the US government in September 2017.
Under the latest procurement, the Afghan Air Force (AAF) will have 67 MD 530Fs in service, taking into account battlefield losses and training accidents.
