KABUL (Pajhwok): A US-based human rights group has urged the Afghan government to investigate a recent attack that killed an American aid worker.
The aid worker from San Francisco, Anil Raj, was killed in an attack on a UN vehicle in Kabul on Sunday evening. Five others were wounded.
On Friday, Amnesty International USA called on the government in Kabul to promptly probe the attack and bring those responsible to justice.
In a statement, Amnesty International USA Board of Directors Chair Janet Lord said: “AI mourns the killing of Raj and sends its deepest condolences to his family, friends and his brave colleagues.”
Anil served as a country specialist for Amnesty International USA from 2007-2010 and was a member of the Board of Directors from 2010-2011.
“The way that Anil’s life was cut tragically short underscores the grave dangers that human rights workers in Afghanistan face,”
the statement added.
