TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Four policemen have been killed and wounded in a blast in southeastern Khost province, while unidentified gunmen have shot three people, including two students, in central Uruzgan province, officials said on Monday.
Abdul Manan Alizai, administrative chief for Deh the Rraud district of central Uruzgan province, said unknown gunmen killed two students whose brother is a policeman in the Londyani locality.
He said two students and one of their friends were killed in the shooting by the gunmen who managed to flee the area after the attack.
No arrest has been made so far into the incident, which is currently under investigation, according to Alizai.
But Jan Mohammad Karimi, deputy police chief of Deh Raud, claimed the students had been killed by Taliban insurgents.
“A brother of the slain students, Sher Agha, is our colleague. The Taliban forced their way into his home and killed his brothers and their gust,” he added.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
Separately, a blast hit the vehicle of the Nader Shahkot district police chief in the Mata China locality of Khost province.
Police chief Adel Haidar told Pajhwok Afghan News the district police head Massoud survived but one of his security guards was killed and two others were injured.
Public Health Director Dr. Habib Shah Ansari said one body and three injured people had been evacuated to hospital.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast.
