KABUL fighters have been killed in central MaidanWardak province and a portion of the Kabul-Kandahar highway cleared of insurgents.
Nasrat Rahimi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), said Brig. Gen. Khoshal Sadaat, MoI security secretary, headed an Afghan Special Forces’ operation against the rebels.
He said 25 Taliban were killed and an insurgent training centre destroyed during the operation. Rahimi, however, did not give the exact time of the sweep.
Several landmines, weapons and explosives were destroyed during the offensive, he said . . .
