MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): Officials in neighboring Nangarhar province on Monday said two persons had been arrested in connection with the killing of Japanese physician Tetsu Nakamura.
Nangarhar Governor Shah Mahmod Miakhel told a press conference in the provincial police headquarters that his administration and security forces had accelerated their efforts at investigating the incident and a probing team from Kabul had also reached the province.
“A technical team from the capital has arrived, they will collect evidence and work jointly with our security forces to arrest the perpetrators of the attack on Nakamura,” he said.
On the other hand, Nangarhar police chief Mohammad Emal Niazai said that two persons had been arrested in connection with the assassination.
The suspects are currently under investigation and security forces have recovered military equipment and uniforms from their houses, he said.
Niazai said incident was underway being investigated and more details in this regard would be shared with the media once available.
Nakamura, chief of Peace Japan Medical Services (PMS), was killed in an attack in Jalalabad city. Local officials say his murder plot was designed outside the country.
