LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): At least 11 policemen, including chief of staff, have been killed as a result of an explosion in the Sangin district of southern Helmand province.
A security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the landmine blast took place in limits of the 611th Highway Battalion late on Saturday.
According to the source, 11 policemen including Chief of Staff Maj. Besmillah were killed and five others wounded in the blast.
Governor Mohammad Yaseen confirmed the blast and linked the incident to police negligence.
