MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): At least 22 people were injured as a result of a magnetic bomb blast in the capital of northern Balkh province on Tuesday, an official said.
Police spokesman Adel Shah Adel told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place in the Alkozai square of Mazar-i-Sharif at around 9am.
He said the explosion wounded five traffic police personnel, one national police member and 16 civilians.
Samiullah, an eyewitness, told Pajhwok the blast occurred close to a traffic police pick-up. He saw several injured individuals at the site.
A doctor at Civil Hospital, Shafiq Shaeq, confirmed receiving 22 injured people. He said six policemen, three women and a child were among the injured.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast.
