8 militants including 2 Pakistanis killed in Helmand raids

<p>LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Eight <a href="/en/taliban" class="glossify-link">Taliban</a> militants, including two Pakistani nationals, have been killed in security operations in the Garmser district of the southern Helmand province, an official said on Monday.</p>

<p>Bahir Ahmadi, the Kandahar governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News intelligence operatives conducted operations in Lakari Bazaar, Khan Mohammad village and Tobi areas late on Sunday night.</p>

<p>He said two Pakistani nationals were among the eight insurgents killed in the overnight operations. At least two rebels were arrested.</p>

<p>A number of weapons, ammunition and of the Taliban hideouts were also destroyed in the operations, Ahmadi claimed.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, provincial police chief Lt. Col. Ihsamuddin Helmandi told Pajhwok the security forces conducted clearing operations in Garmser, Nad Ali and Greshk districts.</p>

<p>However, the Taliban have not yet commented in this regard but the group spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi tweeted the fighters inflicted heavy casualties on the security forces in the province late on Sunday.</p>
