Taliban’s shadow district chief killed in Herat raid

KABUL’s shadow chief for the Shindand district of western Herat province has been killed, the Ministry of Defence said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the MoD said the security forces raided Abdul Rauf’s hideout in Kashk-i-Kohna district. He was killed along with a bodyguard.

A Kalashnikov assault rifle, a motorcycle and two mobile phone sets were seized by the security forces. The Taliban are yet to comment on the raid.
