Ceasefire precondition for intra-Afghan talks: Kabul

KABUL was ceasefire.

Waheed Omar, Director General Office of Public and Strategic Affairs at the Presidential Palace, tweeted, “We have a clearly communicated stance. It is a precondition for us. It’s upon Taliban to make up their mind. We cannot comment on speculations and rumors.”

He said as soon as the Taliban made up their mind and communicate their official stance, the Afghan government will be able to comment.

Omar said as soon as Taliban and the US concluded their talks and the former made up their mind on ceasefire; Kabul would be ready to send a delegation to represent the Afghan state. “The delegation will be small but representative of all walks of life.”

“So, we are not withholding the talks or the list of negotiators. We are waiting for Taliban to conclude their talks with the US, announce a ceasefire and be ready to talk to a delegation that will represent the Afghan State,” he wrote.”
