<p><a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">KABUL</a> (Pajhwok): The Mines and Petroleum Ministry on Sunday said 170 million afghanis would be spent on reviving the second phase of Jabalus Saraj Cement Factory in central Parwan province.</p>
<p>The Jabalus Saraj factory was established in 1958 and it was the first cement factory in <a href="https://www.pajhwok.com/en/afghanistan"><strong>Afghanistan</strong></a>, which had been operational until 1978, but gradually declined production and finally closed in 2004 due to power shortage and other issues.</p>
<p>Abdul Qadir Mutafi, MoMP spokesman, said they had invited bids for the Jabalus Saraj Factory and approved by the High Economic Council three days back.</p>
<p> He said, “I would not go into details in this regard but the HEC has approved the report and the contract will be soon signed.”</p>
<p>He said the private sector would invest 170 afghanis in the factory’s second phase rehabilitation.</p>
<p>According to his information, the factory produces 3,300 tons of cement per day.</p>
<p>Fifteen kinds of mineral deposits exist in Parwan. Four mines of plumbumb, zinc and coal exist in Syagard district and four reservoirs of copper, iron, chromite and other precious stones are available in Surkh Parsa district.</p>
