LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Work on the second phase of the Kajaki dam was launched in southern Helmand province on Sunday.
The second phase of the project got under way following a ceremony attended by Governor Mohammad Yaseen Khan and other officials.
With the completion of the second phase, the dam’s power-generating capacity would increase from 52 to 102MWs, the governor said.
Electricity from the dam would be supplied to neighbouring Uruzgan and Kandahar provinces, as well as Helmand, he added.
