Waziristani refugee elder gunned down in Khost

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have shot dead a Waziristani tribal leader in the Gurbaz district of southeastern Khost province.

The incident took place at the Gulan refugee camp on Saturday night, said Malik Habib Khan, a tribal elder of refugees from the Pakistani tribal region of Waziristan.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News Hafizullah was killed by unknown gunmen inside his house.

Police spokesman Adel Shah Haidar confirmed the incident and linked the murder to personal enmity. He said the killers managed to flee the area but a manhunt was underway for them.

Some media reports say the slain individual named Qari Saifullah was spokesman for the Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP).
