21pc hike in cotton yield recorded this year

Akbar Rustami, spokesman for the MoAIL, told Pajhwok Afghan News cotton production in 17 provinces of the country rose by 21 percent, reaching 73,100 metric tonnes this year.

The official said about 49,317 hectares of land cultivated with cotton in 2019, up from 39,496 hectares in 2018.

He called timely rainfall, better weather, increase in the area cultivation, training of farmers, the distribution of quality seeds and establishment of 206 farms in 14 provinces main reasons behind the hike in cotton production.
