JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Work has been launched on four water-heads costing around 18 million afghanis in the Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Thursday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the water-heads would be built in Pirkhel, Ashkhel, Pakhel and Lal Chini areas of the district by the Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department.
He said the schemes would be executed in six months at a cost of 18 million afghanis.
Agriculture Director Mohammad Zamir Behsudi told Pajhwok about 1,360 acres of land would be irrigated with the completion of the projects. He urged people to oversee execution of the schemes.
Syed Ashiqullah Sadat, the district’s administrative chief, and tribal elder Obaidullah Shinwari thanked the agriculture department for launching the projects.
