PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Amid soaring US-Iran tensions, Pakistan and Russia have agreed to launch joint efforts for restoring peace in the region.
During a phone call on Friday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov discussed issues pertaining to the escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
Qureshi told his Russian counterpart the mounting tensions could cause a severe blow to regional peace. Both parties must exercise restraint to de-escalate the situation, he stressed.
“Pakistan will neither be a party to any new conflict in the region nor will its land be used against any regional or neighbouring country,” Radio Pakistan quoted Qureshi as saying.
