KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Urban and Land Affairs Minister Jawad Paikar has been banned from traveling aboard over misuse of authority and having properties in aboard, the Attorney General Office (AGO) said on Tuesday.

The AGO issued a three-article letter on Tuesday, saying President Ghani chaired a meeting in this regard at the Presidential Palace on Saturday.

The letter said: First Jawad Paikar, acting Urban and Land Affairs, has illegally made appointments to some key posts ministry and this issue will be seriously investigated under the Presidential Palace order.

Secondly, Paikar bought some properties in Turkey and this issue would also be investigated by the Independent Directorate of Local Governance to clarify which sources were used in buying the apartments and when it took place?

Third, until all allegations are proved, he is banned from traveling aboard.

A source, who wished to go unnamed, confirmed the issue to Pajhwok Afghan News.

Meanwhile, MoUL spokesman Hashmatullah Nasari told Pajhwok that they had not received any formal letter in this regard from the Presidential Palace or AGO so far.
