KABUL (Pajhwok): Following a lengthy debate, the parliament on Wednesday gave the go-ahead to the national budget for the current fiscal year.
Of the 428 billion afghanis, 289 billion afghanis have been earmarked in general spending. The development budget stands at 139 billion afghanis.
A day earlier, Integrity Watch Afghanistan (IWA) claimed essential needs of people had not been considered in drafting the budget plan.
The sitting government spent 54 billion afghanis, compared with 37 billion afghanis spent by the previous administration.
