PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan.
A three-member of the Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday took up a case regarding the interception of about 262 sugar-laden containers by the customs department in June last year.
Only 92 of 354 containers carrying sugar were allowed to cross the border into Afghanistan. Justice Yahya Afridi asked the respondent under what law the Customs authorities stopped the sugar containers.
In response, Deputy Director of Customs informed the court the containers were stopped because they were carrying substandard sugar.
