3 policemen killed, 8 wounded in Jawzjan firefight

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Three policemen have been killed and another eight wounded in a Taliban attack on their check-post in the Faizabad district of northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Masood Nadim told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants stormed the policemen post in the Kokaldash area of the district at midnight.

He said three uprising group members and policeman were killed and four pro-government forces and as many cops wounded in the assault.

The injured were evacuated to hospital. The police spokesman said the militants also suffered causalities in the clash but he had no further information.

On the other hand, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed five security personnel, including uprising commander Khodai Deran, were killed and six others wounded.
