Afghan envoy in Sari Lanka meets SAARC leader

The two sides discussed issues related to the vision and mission objectives of SAARC as a regional grouping, the Afghan envoy said.

They discussed how the intergovernmental organization could further bolster regional cooperation on common issues of regional interest as trade, investment; poverty reduction and sustainable development, environment and climate action as well as cultural cooperation and people-to-people ties.

The Afghan envoy said Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s vision for win-win cooperation against confrontation  underpinned the Afghan foreign policy, promoting regional security and development cooperation to address jointly challenges facing South Asia.

Haidari extended to the SAARC Secretary General-Designate the full support of the government of Afghanistan.

He also congratulated Amb. Weerakoon on his appointment, while sharing with him one of his recent articles on the role #SAARC can play in securing #SouthAsia thru regional economic integration.
