KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) on Tuesday said the assessment of appellant complaints from 16 provinces would be completed within next two days to decide the fate of 300,000 controversial votes.
Zarmini Haqju Kakar, IECC deputy spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that classification of appellant complaints from 16 provinces had ended and from the rest of provinces would be concluded soon.
She said in overall 752 appellant complaints had been classified and 687 of them alleged about rigging and the rest electoral crimes.
According to her, appellants’ complaints were classified from Kapisa, Logar, Laghman, Punjishir, Bamyan, Ghazni, Kunar, Nuristan, Badakhshan, Samangan, Sar-i-Pul, Daikundi, Uruzgan, Zabul, Faryab, and Farah provinces.
Kakar said within next two-days, IECC members would declare their decision about 300,000 controversial votes.
The IECC started responding to electoral objections seven days ago. The objections include complaints about suspicious votes, none-biometric votes, votes polled out of time, difference of votes and some other issues.
Election tickets have registered nearly 6,300 appealing objections and the IECC should respond to them within 15 days.
Presidential election was held on September 28, 2019 but final results are yet to be revealed.
