KABUL (Pajhwok): Iran hopes a new Afghan government will start working soon after the recount of votes in a transparent manner.
Foreign Minister Javad Zarif also underlined the imperative of respecting the votes of Afghans and declaration of final results from the September presidential ballot.
At a meeting with the UNAMA chief in Tehran on Monday, the foreign minister promised Iran's support for a peace process led and owned by the Afghan government.
A UN team is currently in Tehran to discuss the developments unfolding in Afghanistan with senior Iranian officials, IRNA reported.
The UN secretary-general’s special representative, Tadamichi Yamamoto, commended Iran's positive role in helping resolve the problems being faced by Afghanistan.
