JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Intelligence operatives have arrested 17 individuals, including Taliban and Daesh rebels, in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Wednesday.
The detainees were paraded before media persons in Jalalabad, the provincial capital
Deputy governor Tamim Arif Momand said the National Directorate of security (NDS) personnel had arrested 10 Taliban militants and five Daesh rebels during their operations in the provincial capital, Batikot, Khogyani, Surkhrod and Behsud districts.
He added two other individuals who threatened doctors in Jalalabad city had also been detained. He said five pistols, two Kalashnikovs, one talkie walkie, a landmine and some ammunition were also seized from the detainees.
The detainees were involved in subversive activities across the province and threatened doctors via telephone to pay them money.
All the detainees have confessed to their crimes and they are currently under NDS investigation, he concluded.
