10 Haqqani Network members arrested in Paktia

<p>GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Security forces arrested 10 members of the <a href="/en/haqqani-network" class="glossify-link">Haqqani Network</a> in the past one week in southeastern Paktia province, an official said on Thursday.</p>

<p>Governor Spokesperson Abdullah Hasrat told Pajhwok Afghan News the Haqqani Network members had been arrested in the past one week from different parts of the province.</p>

<p>“The detained individuals were getting support from across the <a href="/en/durand-line" class="glossify-link">Durand Line</a>,” he said.</p>

<p>Hasrat said as a result of the increased capacity and capability of security forces the areas under government control had been stretched and efforts are on to consolidated position on already retaken areas during winter.</p>

<p>Saifullah, one of the detainees, said from across the Durand Line a group led by Pakistani Hafiz Rashid trained them and provided landmine to plant it in a government facility in the Dand-i-Patan district bazaar.</p>

<p>“The groups run by Hafiz Rashid and Sediq provide me with land mine to plant it against the government personnel in the Saparai locality. They encouraged us to remain active in Paktia and carry out subversive activities,” he said.</p>
